Geoffrey Engert Award for Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning

Nominations are requested for the Construction and Building Services, Geoffrey Engert Award. These Annual prestigious Awards are to recognise valued contribution(s) by Engineering Technicians, employed in the field of heating, ventilation air-conditioning and refrigeration. Alternatively Engineering Technicians employed in an aligned Building Services sector activity.

Eligibility

Eng Tech members or Eng Tech Equivalent non-members in the UK.

Nominations

Closing date for nominations is 31 October 2024.

  • Circa 700 word / 1-2 pages
  • Reference information for nominator and seconder

These annual prizes are awarded to individual(s) or groups of individuals that the Divisional Board have judged and considers to have made a substantial and worthy contribution in one or more of the following or similar areas:

  • Design, upgrade, installation, commissioning, fault diagnosis / repair and maintenance of HVACR systems, including controls.
  • Development of HVACR alternative technologies, such as Ground and Air source heat pumps or alternatively development of Building services projects and or products or similar.

Award Conditions

The supporting nomination to include an outline of the candidate(s) and aspirations and reason for the nomination, as well as a summary of the Nominee’s personal / practical achievement(s) and/or initiative. 

Presentation

The Award Prizes will be presented at one of the Division’s technical events to maximise the participation in, and the promotion of the Awards. The recipients are required to make a presentation of their achievements, and further to ‘act’ as an ambassador, promoting the EngTech ‘brand’ through the IMechE publicity associated with the award.

Prize

In addition to the prestige of the Award winner, financial prizes of:

  • First Prize - up to £1,000
  • Second Prize - up to £750
  • Third Prize
  • up to £500

Are offered. The decision as to whether to award and the value of the award is the full and final decision of the Divisional board.

These Awards have been made possible through a donation by the Field family to recognise Geoffrey Engert and the family involvement within the Building services and HVACR sector, particularly pumps.
