EARLY CAREER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

An 18-month programme designed to produce well-rounded engineers with a broad range of experiences, enabling employers to support early-career engineers in maximising their learning and accelerating their full potential.

The IMechE Early Career Development Programme will help your early-career engineers gain the knowledge and skills they need to be successful in their new role, as well as lay the foundations to support career progression within your organisation.

Almost 80% of employers believe that current graduates are not fully prepared to enter the workforce (CMI, 2021).


The programme focuses on professional development, covering essential areas not typically addressed at school or university. We delve into personal effectiveness, branding, report writing, project management, innovation, influencing, business skills, and Six Sigma principles.

Our blended approach combines formal training, self-guided study, work-based projects, one-on-one coaching, and more. This diverse training model gradually develops skills to avoid overwhelm, supports retention by encouraging commitment, and alleviates the administrative burdens typically associated with managing such schemes.
